Dharamshala, October 21, 2015: “The Civil Aviation Minister of India shall inaugurate the Paragliding world Cup at Billing, near Dharamshala on October 23, whereas the flights shall start from 24th morning”, disclosed this today by Sudhir Sharma, President of main organising authority, Billing Gliding Association  while talking to this correspondent at Dharamshala on Wednesday. Sudhir said that it is first paragliding world cup being organised in South Asia, and Himachal (Billing) is the proud to be it.
He said that 123 competing pilots of 35 countries who have registered have already arrived at billing. “This include top 8 of the first 10 aero pilots of the world, who will show their talent in the No.2 best paragliding site of the world at Billing (Dharamshala )”, said Sharma.  Sharma said, “The site was declared 2nd best when it has the facility for 6 or 7 pilots to take off simultaneously, whereas we have developed field for 40 to 50 pilots to take off together and now we are sure that this site shall be declared No 1 site of the world after this world cup.”
He said that Himachal government is very serious for the uplift of aero sports as it is the first government in the country to frame and implement the rules for this in India.
Sudhir said, “The state government has taken decision to establish the first National Institute of Paragliding in Billing and Chief Minister of the state Vir Bhadra Singh will lay the foundation stone of the institute on October 31 before presiding over the closing ceremony of World cup at billing.”
Sudhir further informed that beside 123 competing paragliders, about 500 free players are also there to show their skills. He said, “We shall now  bid for the Super Finals of 2017, the big event.”
He further informed that the participants and the officials are residing in the tented colony in Billing, the new format of the world Cup. Sudhir said, “We are now expecting luxury tourist in the area and the title sponsor of the event Airport Authority of India is also working in this field. AAI is developing the Gagal Airport of Dharamshala as the model airport of the Hills in India. “Dharamshala air port shall be starting refueling facility from October 23 to mark the world cup paragliding”, said minister.
He said that Cine personalities like Preeti Zinta and Sukhvinder Singh shall grace the show.
