43 Schools Of Ludhiana District Upgraded

Ludhiana, June 4, 2016: In a bid to provide quality education in government schools, the Punjab government has now upgraded a total of 534 government schools (372 from high to senior secondary and 162 from middle to high) in the state. This also includes 43 schools of Ludhiana district. As per a list issued by the Punjab government, out of total 43 upgraded schools of Ludhiana, 34 have been upgraded from High Schools to Senior Secondary Schools and 9 from Middle Schools to High Schools.
While giving information, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat and DEO (Secondary) Mrs Paramjit Kaur Chahal, informed that with the upgradation of schools, the total number of Senior Secondary schools in district is now 179, number of Middle Schools is 191 and High Schools 195.
They informed that otherwise the number of Middle, High and Senior Secondary Schools in the district was 532, but the Punjab School Education Board has now also decided to bring Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), village Barmi (near Raikot) under its control, but the official notification in this regard is yet to be issued. This school was earlier run by Bhuri Wale Sect and was lying closed for some time. With the issuing of official notification, the total number of Senior Secondary Schools in district would become 180. With the efforts of PSEB, around 50 girls have already taken admission in this particular school, which has classes from class ninth to twelfth (science, commerce and arts). The district is also having 1002 Primary Schools.
Mr Ravi Bhagat said that this decision of upgrading government schools would help in strengthening the education standards. He said that even the admissions in these schools would increase now.

Inderpuri, Dakha (Girls), Ballowal Chaminda, Gagg Kalan, Gorsian Kadarbaksh, Chhapar, Umaidpur Tibba, Ghwaddi, Ladhowal, Gill, Kasabad, Sahibana, Lakhowal Baddowal, Mundian Kalan, Sihora, Ghaloti, Payal (Girls), Sirthala, Akhara, Lakha, Kakra Tihara, Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Engine Shed Manjit Nagar, Panjgraiya, Takhran, Manewal, Rajewal Kullewal, Bibipur, Rajewal, Rasoolra, MDHS Lohatbaddi, Kalsian, Dr Dwa Das (Girls) and Dalla.
LIST OF SCHOOLS UPGRADED FROM MIDDLE TO HIGH:
Kailash Nagar, Rania, Beela, Phullanwal, Mattewara, Bhamian Kalan, Kakowal, Jagera and Jhamat.
