33rd Annual General Meeting & World Standards Day celebrations

Ludhiana, October 29, 2018: The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local Centre held its annual general meeting today at the institute building, Dugri Road, Ludhiana. This event coincided with the celebrations of World Standards Day. The chief guest of the day was Dr.Yadwinder Singh Brar, Director (Main Campus), IKG Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala with Dr. Harpal Singh, Professor, Civil Engineering department as guest of honor. The function started with traditional lamp lighting and invocation of goddess Saraswati. In his address, the outgoing Chairman Brig. Mastinder Singh,SM said that the outgoing committee of the institution deserved a round of applause for the smooth conduct of events. Reading out the annual report,, the outgoing Honorary Secretary Er. Gurpreet Singh Walia highlighted the achievements of the institution in the past year. He cited the growth in the membership as well as the library. He also highlighted the new facilities created at the local centre. Er. Balbir Singh, Ex-council member gave a brief introduction about the activities of the institution. The Technical session on the theme of the World Standards Day: Industry 4.0 was delivered by Er. Surinderbir Singh, CEO, Taraan Industry. He gave the main components of industry 4.0. He gave a glimpse of the history as to how the industrial revolutions have gone. He cited that now the change is taking a far lesser time and we need to be responsive for this change. He also gave implications for implementation of industry 4.0. In his address, Dr. Yadwinder Singh Brar, chief guest said that we need to build upon the glorious past of Indian industry to face the future. The new committee of the local centre headed by Er. Rup Lal Mahajan as Chairman, Er. Surjit Singh as Honorary Secretary took over the reins of the institution governance. In his address the incoming Chairman Er. R.L.Mahajan said that industry and academia need to work hand in glove for the over all prosperity. Er. Surjit Singh delivered the vote of thanks. The function was marked by the presence of the members of the institution including Dr. R.P.Singh Suker-Chakia, Er. Charanjit Singh, Er. Surendra Singh, Dr. Arvind Dhingra and student volunteers of the students chapter of the Institution of Engineers(India), Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
