329 CRORE online payments in first quarter in Jalandhar-Badal

Jalandhar , August  4, 2013: The computerization of entire treasury offices in Punjab ensuring all Government Payments online proved a grand success with  Punjab becoming first successful state in the country to disburse more than Rs. 7281 crore to more than 14 lakh beneficiaries in first quarter by online system.  
Disclosing this in a meeting here yesterday, Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal said that crediting online payments was successfully running in the whole state. He said that through this recently implemented system of online payments to various departments, authorities besides salaries of government officials/employees, Jalandhar district have credited Rs. 329 crore 53 lacs and 62545 in a short span of three months.
He said that Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) has been monitoring the system of online payments from its inception on 1st April, 2013 and Punjab has become the country's first state to start this programme. He said that all government payments from 1st April, 2013 were being deposited directly in the bank accounts of concerned departments and authorities. He said that in Jalandhar district 121165 people were directly benefited with this scheme.
He said that in Jalandhar Treasury total amount disbursed is 270 Crore 90 lac 8179 and no. of beneficiaries are 97781. In Kartarpur Treasury total amount disbursed is 3 Crore 67 lac 61036 and no. of beneficiaries are 1115. In Nakodar 13 crore 70 lac 83373 amount is disbursed to 4787 beneficiaries. Similarly in Nurmehal Treasury total amount disbursed is 7 Crore 57 lac 30658 and no. of beneficiaries are 3006. In Phillaur total amount disbursed is 23 Crore 53 lac 78029 and no. of beneficiaries are 9359 and in Shahkot 10 crore 14 lac 1270 credited to 5117 beneficiaries.
Badal further said that E-Payment system was implemented in all Government Offices/Departments, whose transactions were done through treasury offices.  He added that from July 1, 2013 Punjab has set a new milestone by starting the whole work online, which would prove to be a major step to ensure paperless administration in releasing funds to various departments in the entire state. He said that no physical files would be required to be submitted now.
