Ludhiana, February 12, 2019: Three-day cultural festival ECTOPIA-2019 begins today in DMCH with much fanfare and enthusiasm among students and faculty. The function was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta along with Medical Administrators present on the occasion including Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Supdts Dr Sandeep Sharma,Dr Ashwani Chaudhary and Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal and Guest of Honour-Dr Iqbal Dhaliwal (alumni of 1975 MBBS batch). The theme of ECTOPIA 2019 this year is ‘Roman Invicta’ which means "unconquered Rome’ The mascot for ECTOPIA-2019 was Goddess Athena of Roman civilization which stands for wisdom, justice courage and law. Pooja Prasad of MBBS Batch 2017 was made the mascot and she presented flower tributes to the chief guest and dignitaries. Student anchors- Ivroz and Gurleen extended warm welcome to the dignitaries present on the occasion. Convener of DMCH Cultural Committee-Dr Navjot Bajwa and Secretary of DMCH Cultural Committee-Dr Dinesh Jain said that ‘ECTOPIA’ has always been much awaited event by the students. Among a variety of talent-hunt competitions, ‘masquerade party’, ‘mask making’ and ‘Ice cream stick creativity’ are new segments for ECTOPIA-2019 Principal Dr Sandeep Puri said that the purpose of organizing the cultural meet is to help the students in overall development of their personality and bring out best in them. The first day of the festival began with solo dance performances by participants on Bollywood numbers and English hip-hop songs. In solo song segment, a student Manpreet of MBBS Batch 2017 presented an item pertaining to women empowerment and also depicted life story of illustrious female boxer of India-‘Mary Kom’ Another event held on the first day of ECTOPIA was quiz competition which was well received by the audience.
