Dharamshala, February 12, 2019: Resident doctors of Dr.Rajendra Prasad Medical College Tanda today started agitation against the state government to press their demand for the abolition of bank guarantee rule.

Doctors observed a two-hour-long pen-down strike in the morning on Tuesday, and have urged the government to abolish the bank guarantee soon. Although the government has recently reduced the bank guarantee from ten lakhs to five lakhs as bond money for MBBS doctors who pursue higher medical courses yet doctors are demanding its full abolition.

Due to this part-time pan-down strike of the resident doctors, there were very few doctors in OPD today, the patients had to face problems in the morning and wait for a long time.

Dr.Amit Rana, President, Resident Doctors Association Tanda said, “After wearing black ribbons for one week on the lines of Medical College Shimla against this bank guarantee, we have started two hour long' pen down strike from today. We are demanding that the government should completely abolish the bank guarantee and release the pending stipend of last 3 months of resident doctors of Tanda Medical College. If our demands are not met with, the resident doctors of entire state shall go on strike in near future.”
