22 Dera Premis booked in context with Sikh-Dera Premis clash at Mallanwala

Ferozepur, March 7, 2017: The police have booked 22 dera premis by name and 30-35 unidentified in context with the Sikh-Dera Premis clash which took place at Mallanwala on 25th February. The case has been lodged at Mallanwala police station following the complaint lodged by Balwinder Singh , a resident of Village Baggewala. It is pertinent to mention here that Balwinder Singh was one of those persons who were allegedly attacked by dera premis with red chili powder. In his complaint, Balwinder has stated that on 25th February, Sikhs were holding peaceful protest at main chowk at Mallanwala when they were allegedly attacked by the premis with baseball bats and lathis besides the premis hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs.
Earlier, the police had arrested eighteen Sikh hardliners who were earlier booked on charges of an attempt to sabotage “ Naam Charcha” being organised by the “Premis”- the followers of Sirsa based Dera Sacha Sauda in Makhu block and subsequently in Mallanwala area of this border district. They were presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate in Zira sub division which sent them to ten days judicial remand. The two minors were sent to juvenile home in Ludhiana while the sixteen others were sent to Central Jail in Ferozepur.
