15 booked in connection with post-poll panchayat violence

Ferozepur, July 7, 2013: With the Akali-BJP wave in Assembly elections followed by Panchayat elections in Punjab, number of incidents of post-poll panchayat violence, due to various reasons are pouring in not only in Ferozpeur but in whole of the state.

In Ferozepur, in three different post-poll violence, 15 persons have been booked at Zira, Guruharsahai and Makhu Police stations.

At Zira, in a dispute and manhandling in village Joean Wala over the post-poll panchayat rivalry, on the basis of statement of complaint of Gurdip Singh, eight persons named as Harinder Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Balwant Singh, Charanjit Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Inderpal Singh, Gurmit Singh and Boota Singh have been booked. ASI Sukhwinder Singh said that the police investigation into the case has been initiated.

Also, ASI Sewak Chand said, in village Fatehgarh Gehri, a case under Sections 323, 324, 148 and 149 IPC, have been booked against Joginder Singh, Tarsem Singh, Jagtar Singh, Malkiat Singh Gurpreet Singh and Gurmeet Singh, over a dispute over the panchayat elections.

In the third case, in village Lehra Bet, Makhu police, on the statement of Balwinder Singh, a case under sections 452, 354, 379, 323 and 506 IPC has  been registered against Dalwinder Singh.
