Chandigarh, November 27, 2019: As many as 102 patients were screened in a free laser camp for urological diseases at Shalby Hospital, Mohali on Wednesday.
During camp, Dr.Muninder Singh Randhawa Urologist examined the patients for their problems.
Speaking during occasion, Dr.Randhawa informed that Thulium laser facility is now available at Shalby which is only private hospital in tricity to start this facility.
He said, Thulium laser is fast emerging as a safe and effective modality for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Comparing, to holmium laser transurethral enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) the number of institutes all over the world using Thulium laser are limited, he pointed out.
It is proclaimed to be the safest and most effective laser in term of blood loss, the speed of tissue resection and versatility of prostatic resection, he maintained.
The benefits of Thulium laser included minimum blood loss, fast recovery, more effective, less complications and short stay in hospital. Through this technology even 150 to 200 grams prostrate can also be treated. This technique can also be used among patients above 80-yr of age, informed Dr. Randhawa.
