Dharamshala, November 3, 2017: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Friday bestowed teachings on Tsongkapa’s “Three Principal Aspects of the Path” at the Main Temple Tsuglagkhang , adjacent to His residence in upper Dharamshala in north India. “Among our Buddhist followers, we need to be harmonious and respectable to one another. We are followers of the same teacher, Buddha, and follow the Buddhist teachings that were introduced to us by Master Shantarakshita, Padmasambhava and the great Tibetan emperor Trisong Detsen,” said Dalai Lama.
During the introductory teachings, His Holiness made a special mention of the Tibetans who had just arrived from Tibet, and Buddhist devotees from Vietnam and Italy.
Hundreds of people from across India, including the Mon community, recently arrived Tibetans from Tibet and devotees from Italy, Vietnam, US and others greeted the Tibetan leader at the temple.

His Holiness argued that more and more people are beginning to appreciate the emphasis the Tibetan tradition places on study and that Tibetan Buddhist scholars are accomplished teachers with more to impart than just prayers and rituals.
“Therefore, increasing numbers of people are showing interest in studying Tibetan Buddhism. Even Western scientists have noted that the logical character of Tibetan Buddhism is comparable to science.”
Having devoted his life to the study of Buddhism, Dalai Lama said “I am convinced that all people—believers or nonbelievers—must make collective efforts for more compassionate world.”
Particularly among the believers, he said, unity and mutual respect must be upheld.
Yesterday Dalai Lama inaugurated Namgyal monastery’s new school complex here in McLeod Ganj. Namgyal Phende Lekshe Ling is the principal monastery of the Dalai Lama lineage dating back to the 16th century since the 2nd Dalai Lama Gedun Gyatso.
The new six- floor building has classes and hostels for the monks apart from living quarters for the staff of the monastery. The construction of the multi-crore rupees project was completed this year through funds donated by sponsors from Italy, Vietnam, Taiwan and the Dalai Lama Trust, which contributed one crore rupees.
Tibetan leader said that the traditional boundary of Tibetan Buddhism must now be opened to include people from all races, ethnicity and nationality who are willing to study dharma. He said, “I have been telling people that since there are quite a number white (caucasian) monks, a separate khangtsen (monastic group) be created only for the white people.”
Incidentally, just over a third of the 123 monks in his monastery are Tibetan. People from Mon Tawang, Mongolia, Ladakh, Zanskar and Bhutan among others have been enrolled over the years.
