New Delhi, September 19, 2014: The Special Judge, CBI, Chandmari, Guwahati has convicted Deepak Hazarika, the then Assistant . Executive Engineer (Agril) and Promod Chandra Saikia, the then Assistant Agriculture Engineer (Agril), both of N.C.Hills, Haflong and sentenced them to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000.

CBI had registered a case on May 13, 2010 and charge sheet was filed on November 23, 2011 before the Special Judge, CBI, Additional Court No.1, Chandmari against the accused persons  Deepak Hazarika, the then Assistant Executive Engineer (Agril) and  Promod Saikia, the then Assistant Agriculture Engineer (Agril), N.C.Hills, Haflong U/s 120 B, 409, 467, 471 IPC and Section 13(2) R/w 13(1) (c) & (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988  for misappropriation of  funds from the Integrated Jhumia Development Project (IJDP) Scheme implemented by the Agriculture Department (Engineering) in N.C.Hills.

The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
