School children carry out awareness rally against social evils

A view of school children carry out awareness rally against social evils at Ludhiana on Thursday.

Ludhiana, January 15, 2015: Dedicated to Swami Vivekanand, the National Youth Week was organised by the Youth Services Department, here today. A rally against social evils such as drugs, female foeticide, besides others, was also organised by the students from 12 schools of the city. This awareness rally was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Ludhiana, Apneet Riyat from the Deputy Commissioners Office in Mini Secretariat, here, and this rally was attended by hundreds of schoolchildren.
This awareness rally started from the DC office and passed through Bharat Nagar Chowk, Jagraon Bridge, Vishwakarma Chowk, Dholewal Chowk and Gill Chowk.
Apneet Riyat said that the main aim of organising such awareness rallies is to make our young generation aware about the ill-effects of social evils such as drugs, female foeticide, besides several others.
Davinder Singh Lotey, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Punjab, said that hundreds of school children from 11 city schools namely Dashmesh Senior Secondary School, Ramgarhia Senior Secondary School for Boys, Senior Secondary School for Girls, Vishwakarma Senior Secondary School, Sargodha Model Senior Secondary School, Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School, RS Model Senior Secondary School, Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Girls Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Jawahar Nagar, besides some others. The students from class eleventh and twelfth participated in this awareness rally.
