Homage to CICU president Avtar Singh

Ludhiana, September 16, 2017: Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings paid homage to S.Avtar Singh, President, CICU who passed away on September 8, 2017. A condolence meeting of the Executive Members of the Chamber was held at its Focal Point Office, Ludhiana.

S.Avtar Singh served the Chamber as General Secretary for the last 23 years. He was elected as a President on 23rd April, 2014 after the demise of Pardhan, Inderjit Singh. S.Avtar Singh was also the Chief Executives Officer of the Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society.

Sh.Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary requested the members to pay homage by standing for 2 minutes in the loving memory of S.Avtar Singh. He also provided the details of the Chamber and its Presidents who served the Industry for its betterment.

He informed that Chamber was established in the year 1969 to serve and promote the industry of Punjab. The First President was elected in the year. Sh.Prem Nath Gupta who served the Chamber for period of 13 years.

Sh. Brij Mohan Lall Munjal also served this organization from 1982 to 1983 then Sh. Ved Parkash Chopra took the lead and remained President from the year 1983 to 1984. Sh. Chopra handed over the President-ship to Sh. Mohinder Singh Bhogal in the year 1984 who served this organization for two tenures. First from the year 1984 to 1985 and second term from the year 1987 to 1990.

Sh. J.L Raheja served as President from the year 1985 to 1987 and Sh. P.D. Sharma was President of the organization from the year 1990 to 1992. Sh. Inderjit Singh, taken over the charge as President in the year 1992 and served the organization for 22 years.
