Ludhiana, June 24, 2017: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital , conducted a CME programme for Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANMs) in New Auditorium College Camus on 23rd June 2017. This programme provided recent update to the participating delegates who had come from different parts of Ludhiana region.

Dr Rajiv Bhalla Civil Surgeon said that , this training programme is the part of 3rd level programme to sensitize the District Health Personnel to comprehensive epilepsy care . On June 16th a similar programme was organized for the all Medical Officers .The 3rd CME will be organized on June 30th Accredited social health activists (ASHAs) workers in DMC&H.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Sh Prem Kumar Gupta informed that these on going workshops are the part of the training component of grant by the The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to Dayanand Medical College & Hospital in order to develop a model of care for epilepsy in India.

Principal Dr. Sandeep Puri highlighted the importance of this programme “Epilepsy remains a profoundly stigmatising disorder but there are a number of myths and misconceptions surrounding the disorder. These myths are without any sound basis.Dr Gagandeep Singh Professor & Head, Department of Neurology said that the CME was attended by 122 ANMs. It was Interactive and all delegates asked many questions, to the experts and discussed other issues also.

Dr Rajinder Bansal , Professor of Neurology informed that Epilepsy is the commonest neurological disorder there are five million people with epilepsy in India. And added that their many incorrect practices and myths regarding epilepsy, all have pointed out in the CME for the Optimal practices for the basic treatment so that this project to be successful.

Dr Anurag Chaudhary , Professor & Head of Department Community Medicine explained the details regarding project implementation to the ANMs. And she added majority of people with epilepsy do not get the treatment they are supposed to receive.
