Yamaha Motor distributes 10,000 ‘Tulsi’ saplings
Chandigarh, June 5, 2019: Over 10,000 ‘Tulsi’ saplings were distributed to the employees, select dealers and the customers across country by Yamaha Motor India Group as part of its efforts to save the environment and improve the air quality World Environment Day on Wednesday. In addition to this, free pollution check-up camps were organized at 21 dealerships in various cities including Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar etc. Various employee engagement activities were conducted within the group companies, including screening of environmental protection video, quiz contests, Kaizan initiatives, banner display and tree plantation activity, to create awareness on the actions required to be taken by each individual to protect the environment. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies said,” Yamaha globally is implementing strategic, long-term “Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050”, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions during manufacturing and “reduction in the volume of resources usage” by 50% from the base year of 2010 by the target year 2050. We are committed to develop fuel efficient engines, adopt clean energy sources and implement energy efficient activities in our processes, to comply with local regulations and maintain a healthy environment all over the world.” Meanwhile, employees at all Yamaha plants and office locations took a pledge to make best efforts to protect the environment and conservation of energy. They also pledged to spread awareness among their colleagues, family, friends and society about the benefits of environment protection and energy conservation.
