Ludhiana, July 23, 2015: Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings organised an Interactive Session on Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) on Wednesday at CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana.
The representatives of all Prominent Industrial Associations of Punjab and HR Managers, General Managers and CEOs of leading industries of different Manufacturing Sectors attended the Workshop.
Sh. Avtar Singh President CICU in his inaugural speech welcomed the delegates and emphasized that PMKVY Scheme of GOI, implemented through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is highly beneficial and potential Scheme which will enable and mobilize a large number of Indian youths to become employable and earn their livelihood. As per the vision of Prime Minister of India, we need Skill Development of 500 million people by 2022.  This will help to achieve the mission Make in India  and bridge the gap between demand and availability on one side as well as enhanced productivity, quality, reduce rejection and cost on the other side.
Interactive and thought provoking Session was conducted by Sh. Anup Gulati, Team Lead  IIC - NSDC and Sh. Kamal Chhabra, Member, Program Development NSDC, Delhi which included Role of NSDC for promoting PMKVY,   Key Features of the Scheme,   Data relating to Skill Gaps in India in different Sectors,  Need for Capacity Building,  Funding and Support for this Scheme, Role of Sector Skill Councils and different stake holders,  List of Eligible Sectors,   How to become a training partner,  Eligibility of the beneficiaries for the Scheme and Monetary Rewards,   Other Grant Based Schemes and Questions & Answers Session. They also shared the experiences of various stake holders linked with this Scheme, from the different parts of the country as well as different Sectors.
Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary CICU in his concluding remarks, said that the practical applications of this Scheme will provide large number of the Skilled Workers to our industry which will definitely improve its productivity, quality and costs. It is essential for India to achieve the World standards and Costs. It is vital for India to become World Class Manufacturer. This initiative of CICU will definitely help Making Skilling Possible for our Industry to bridge the gap for availability of skilled workers. CICU is committed to help the industry by transforming the skill landscape and opened the doors to a better future by implementing such Schemes.
The participants appreciated the Interactive Session and assured to promote the Skill Development Activities in their respective industries and trade sectors.
