Ludhiana, December 23, 2016: District Planning Board chairman Mr Jagbir Singh Sokhi today said that regarding the issue of distribution of wheat under the Atta-Dal scheme to blue card holders, he would not tolerate any ration depot holder to dupe the common man. He said that some people have complained to him that some ration depot holders are duping the common man on one pretext or the other and warned that if such ration depot holders do not desist from such tactics, strict action would be taken against them.
Mr Sokhi said this while speaking to media persons after chairing a meeting of government officials at his office in Mini Secretariat, here today. This meeting was held to review the government schemes run for the betterment of economically weaker sections of the society.
While speaking to media persons, Mr Jagbir Singh Sokhi said that all blue card holders should use a mobile phone application named “Neela Card” on their phones to get all details related to the blue cards. Mr Sokhi said that as per the government directions, the Aadhaar Card numbers of all Atta-Dal beneficiaries have to be linked with their blue cards for availing government schemes. He said that some of the ration depot holders are duping people on the pretext that their blue cards have not been linked with the Aadhaar Cards, whereas in reality they are already linked.
Mr Sokhi informed that by downloading “Neela Card”, the beneficiary would just have to feed his or her mobile phone number in the mobile app. Once the mobile number is fed, the beneficiary would get One Time Password (OTP) that has to be fed in the app, after which he or she would be registered. Later, the beneficiary would have to mention either their Aadhaar Number or Ration Card number, through which they would be able to see clearly all details of their Blue Card. Details of the entire family would be mentioned there and the beneficiary can also check whether their Aadhaar Card number has been linked or not. He said by doing this, no person would be able to dupe the common man. He urged the people that if any ration depot holder or some other person tries to dupe them, they should bring it to his notice anytime and assured that strict action would be taken against the person.
The District Planning Board chairman further said that the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation has several schemes for providing financial assistance to the scheduled castes as well as the physically challenged from general category. He informed that this Corporation provides loan up to Rs 20 lakh for various purposes at maximum rate of interest of 8 percent. He said that a large number of scheduled castes and physically challenged persons from general category should apply for this financial assistance for becoming self dependent.
Today, cheques worth Rs 5 lakh for different development projects were handed over to the sarpanch of village Khwajke and village Raur. The District Planning Board handed over cheque of Rs 2 lakh for the development of Dharamshala, Rs 1 lakh for cremation ground and Rs 1 lakh for furniture of government school (all for village Khwajke) and Rs 1 lakh for the development of government school at village Raur.
