Water Supply Schemes to provide clean drinking water for residents of Pathankot

Chandigarh, March 11, 2015: Punjab Government has spent 13 crore 91 lac 3 thousand during the current financial year under different water supply schemes to provide clean drinking water for the residents of Pathankot.
Disclosing this here today Deputy Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Dr Dinesh Singh Babbu said that water supply and sanitation Division Pathankot is working on 61 water supply schemes at a fast pace  to provide clean drinking water in 68 villages of the district. Out of 61 water supply schemes work has been completed on 37 and work on the rest shall be completed before 31 March,2015.
The Deputy Speaker said that out of the aforementioned amount, a sum of Rs. 4 crore 75 lakh 6 thousand under national rural water supply project, 8 crore 5 lakh 79 thousand and 1 crore 10 lakh 18 thousand with the assistance of 13th Finance Commission is being spent on various water supply schemes. He further said that under national rural water supply project 8 villages, with world bank assistance 20 villages and 40 villages with the assistance of 13th Finance Commission are being covered. He also disclosed that a sum of Rs. 178.07 crore is being spent on the development of Kandi Area in Pathankot out of which 113.65 crore for Pathankot, 31.70 crore for Sujanpur and 32.72 crore are being spent on developing Bhoa.
