Ludhiana, October 20, 2015: The Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sangrur (Kheri) conducted a five-day vocational training programme on “Pig Farming” under the guidance of Dr.Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training). Thirty five farmers/rural youth attended this training course.

Dr.Sanjay Kumar, Veterinary Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, Sangrur provided useful tips for health management of pigs and various schemes being run by their department. Mrs. Charanjeet Kaur, Fisheries Officer, Sangrur shared benefits of integrated farming of fisheries and piggery. Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training) and Dr. Satbir Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) discussed about importance and scope of subsidiary occupations for augmenting economic status of farmers. The trainees were taken to S. Sapinder Singh’s Dhaliwal Pig Farm, Kila Hakiman (Sangrur) for practical exposure. Apart from this, Sh. Sushil Kumar, Senior Manager, Punjab National Bank, Sangrur shared information on various bank schemes for the farmers.
