Virbhadra Singh announces Polytechnic college for girls at Dharampur

Shimla, June 10, 2017: Addressing a well attended public meeting at Sajaao-Piplu in Dharampur assembly constituency of Mandi district today, Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh announced shifting of control of IPH division, Sarkaghat from IPH circle Hamirpur Zone to Mandi Zone. He announced police post for Tihra, polytechnic college for girls at Dharampur, up-gradation of Primary Health Centre Tihra to Community Health Centre and opening of Primary Health Centre Darpa-Bakarata. He also assured that all the other demands would be considered sympathetically.

He said the State has progressed leaps and bounds since its formation and it was due to the well-planned policies of successive congress governments. Today, the per capita income has gone to 1,47,277 and the growth rate of the state in 2015-16 was estimated at 6.8 percent. There was a vast network of roads of over 37000 kilometres, which was hardly 280 kilometres few years after the State came into existence.

The state government has taken initiative to start Skill Development Allowance Scheme for educated unemployed who were being given monthly allowance of Rs 1000 and disabled youth Rs. 1500 for enhancing their skills in the trade adopted by them so as to make them self-employable, stated the Chief Minister. The scheme empowers the youth to choose the sector of their choice and the institution in which they want to undergo training. “My dream is to see all the youth better placed and earn respectable livelihood”, said Shri Virbhadra Singh.

He said the government was giving Rs. 1000 ‘Unemployment Allowance’ to unemployed youth having 10+2 qualification or above. The disabled unemployed youth were being given Rs.1500 per month. He said it was the responsibility of the government to provide employment to the unemployed youth.

To remove the gap in male female literacy, he said girls hostels have been set up in educationally backward blocks of the state. The government was ensuring that all the colleges being opened or already opened in far-flung areas have hostel facilities, especially for girls.

The Chief Minister said that his motive was to serve the people of the state and in his long political career, he never wished for power but it was the love and affection of people who made him Chief Minister for the sixth time. He also advocated for supporting Shri Chandershekhar, vice-Chairman, Handloom and Handicraft Corporation, in coming Vidhan Sabha elections from Dharampur assembly segment.

Irrigation and Public Health Minister Smt. Vidya Stokes and political Advisor to Chief Minister Shri Rangila Ram Rao also spoke on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chandershekhar said that during the regime of BJP the area remained completely ignored. It was during the Congress regime that the Dharampur got SDM office, Tehsil office, Police Station, Sub Tehsil at Tihra, besides starting of science and commerce classes, lift and drinking water supply schemes etc. It was under the able guidance of Shri Virbhadra Singh that a college was opened in Dharampur. He also listed other developments and thanked the Chief Minister for unprecedented development of the area.
