Jalandhar, April 7, 2017: Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 1983 after which he opted to join the aviation wing of the Indian Navy. The Flag Officer has the distinction of having flown 11 type of aircraft during his distinguished career, is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has over 2480 hours of flying experience. He was awarded Nausena Medal (Gallantry) for recovery of a Sea Harrier fighter aircraft with a grave emergency.

The Flag Officer has commanded various ships, establishments and air squadron during his illustrious career which include INS Ranvijay, INS Ranvir, INS Himgiri, Sea Harrier Training and Frontline Operational Squadron INAS 300 and a premier naval air station INS Hansa. Prior assuming his present appointment as Chief of Staff, Headquarters Western Naval Command, he has had the proud privilege of commanding the sword arm of Indian Navy i.e. the Western Fleet as Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet (FOCWF). As a Flag Officer, VAdm Ravneet Singh has also been the Flag Officer Goa Area and Flag Officer Naval Aviation (FOGA & FONA). The Flag Officer has also served as Assistant Controller Warship Production and Acquisition (ACWP&A) and Assistant Controller Carrier Projects (ACCP) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi. Further, he has also served as the Defence Adviser in Kenya, Tanzania and Seychelles.

An alumnus of Kendriya Vidyalaya Jalandhar, Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh graduated from DAV College Jalandhar prior joining the Indian Navy. Born to Sardarni Sarabjeet Kaur and Sardar Avtaar Manmohan Jit Singh, his father is a practicing lawyer at Punjab & Haryana High Court and Sessions Courts Jalandhar. Married to Mrs Deep Singh, the couple are blessed with two daughters.
