Uruguay satisfied with training complex in Brazil

Montevideo, May 8 (IANS) Uruguay are satisfied with the progress being made on their designated training and lodging complex for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

A top Uruguayan sports official was quoted as saying by leading daily El Pais Wednesday that coach Oscar Tabarez has toured the complex and was pretty happy, reports Xinhua.

The team will be training at the the Arena do Jacare in the city of Sete Lagoas, located 70 km from Belo Horizonte, the state capital.

"(The JN Resort complex) is practically ready to move into. A few small details remain," said Eduardo Belza, sports manager of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF).

"We are all very satisfied with what we have seen," added Belza, who visited the complex this week, accompanied by another AUF official, a physical trainer and the team cook.

"The field was replanted, it hasn't been used in a month, you can see how the grass is coming along," said Belza.

"The changing rooms were also painted and they showed us that the training gear that (world soccer body) FIFA provides has already arrived," he added.

Uruguay are in group D, along with Costa Rica, England, and Italy.

The team will travel for each of its group-phase games, starting June 14 against Costa Rica in Fortaleza, June 19 against England in Sao Paulo and June 24 against Italy in Natal.

The JN Resort is a tourism complex surrounded by hills and lakes near the Santa Helena mountains.
