TWO-DAY CAMPAIGN ON SWACHH BHARAT AND SWACHH SURVEKSHAN 2018 STARTS IN LUDHIANA

LUDHIANA, March 8, 2018: With an aim to make the people aware about Swachh Bharat and Swachh Survekshan-2019, Directorate Field Publicity, a wing of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in association with Ludhiana Administration initiated a two-day campaign in the city on Thursday at Multi Skill Development Centre, Gill Road.

A poster making competition and rally on the theme ‘Swachhta App’ was carried out in the city.

The drive was inaugurated by Additional MC Commissioner Dr.Rishi Pal Singh after which all participants took Swachhta Pledge.

Addressing the gathering, Dr.Rishi Pal Singh motivated the gathering to use Swachhta App as it can play a vital role in keeping the city clean and can lead to achieving the dream of Swachh Bharat. He told the unhygienic conditions can create health problems so it is our duty to keep our surroundings clean.

Deputy Director, Directorate Field Publicity (Jalandhar) Mr. Pritam Singh said that the awareness camp is a part of the nation-wide campaign on Swachh Bharat & Swachh Survekshan- 2018 during Feb-March 2018.

This special drive focuses on creating awareness about Swachhta App and encouragement of the citizens to participate in Swachh Survekshan to provide feedback about city’s cleanliness status, he added.

On this occasion, Mr. Harpal Singh, Nodal Officer of Swachh Survekshan- 2018 and Mr. Surinder Pal Singh from Ludhiana MC gave a detailed presentation to the gathering about Swachh Bharat. A street play was also organized to tell the importance of the program.

In Poster Making competition, Jasjeet Singh stood first, Kartikiyan and Vibham secured second and third positions. They were honoured by the chief guest.

Mr. Pawan Sharma, Mr. Jagjeet Singh, Mr. Jagtar Singh, Mr. Mehal Singh, Mr. Mahewar Singh and Mr. Sarbjeet Singh were also honoured and given certificates for their contribution in the Swachta Survekshan.

Director, Directorate Field Publicity (Mandi Himachal Pradesh) Mr. Thakur Singh said that on March 9 (Friday), the second day of the program would be held at Punjabi Bhawan.
