Dharamsala, November 21, 2012: One more self-immolation occurred on Tuesday in Tibet calling for the return of the Dalai Lama and freedom from China, Tashi, Tibetan government official -in-exile said here.
He said that 78 Tibetans have set themselves on fire since March 2009.
He said “Tsering Dhondup, 34, set himself on fire at Amchok in north-eastern Tibet's Amdo region, and he died on the spot.”
Dhondup is survived by his wife Tamdin Tso and two children.
A special meeting of the Tibet support groups from about 40 countries, which concluded here Sunday, called on the new Chinese leadership to urgently address the root causes of self-immolations in Tibet.
The support groups blamed the Chinese for the crisis and their failed Tibet policies over the last 60 years.
