New Delhi, August 13,2014 : The Special Judge, CBI case, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh)  has convicted   R.R. Das, the then Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Patan Branch, Jabalpur and   Vikas Bairagi, an Advocate in a bribery case and sentenced them to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 5000 each.

In this matter, according to the spokesman of the CBI,  the Complainant had alleged that   R.R. Das, the former Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Patan Branch, Jabalpur,Madhya Pradesh (MP) was demanding Rs. 5,000 from him for sanctioning and disbursing Central Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loan of Rs. 80,000.

CBI registered a case under section 7 of PC Act against the accused on 10.09.2007.  A trap was laid and the accused   R.R. Das, was caught red handed, while demanding & accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000 from the Complainant.  R.R. Das after receiving the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000/- handed over the same to Vikas Bairagi, the Advocate, who was sitting with him at the time of trap. After thorough investigation, CBI filed chargesheet against   R.R Das and   Vikas Bairagi on March 26. 2008 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jabalpur Under Section 120-B IPC and section 7 and 13 (2) read with Section13 (1) (d) of  the Prevention of Corruption Act ( PC Act) .

The official spokesperson  of the CBI further said that in another case, the Special Judge, CBI case, Jabalpur has convicted Ranjeet Kumar, the then Senior Dumper Operator, Jhingurda Project, NCL in a bribery case and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 10,000.

CBI registered a case on July 25. 2011 on a complaint alleging that   Ranjeet Kumar, the then Senior Dumper Operator, Jhingurda Project, NCL was demanding Rs. 15,000 from the Complainant for allowing smooth lifting of coal against pending delivery order.

He said that thereafter, a trap was laid  by the CBI sleuths and the accused   Ranjeet Kumar was caught red handed, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 from the Complainant.

The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
