Technical Education Quality Improvement programme doing wonders to equip students with latest skills

Chandigarh, March 12, 2015: The Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab, has taken path breaking steps to get students of the state equipped with latest technical and industrial skills.
A spokesperson of the Department said that operationalisation of technical education quality improvement programme in 8 engineering colleges has done wonders to put the standard of education and learning processes on fast track.
The spokesperson informed that Toyota motors ltd has been instrumental in establishing body and paint shops at ITI Ludhiana and lalru. Also 2 multi disciplinary academies have been established and also 5 institutes Designated as Punjab Institute of Technology have been set up at Mansa, Hoshiarpur, Khunimajra, Batala and Kapurthala.
The spokesperson further informed that 2 community colleges have been set up at Jalandhar and Bathinda as a consequence of partnership between hackney community college London and Jalandhar. For facilitation of online admission system for ITI’s, a web portal www.punjabiti.gov.in has been made operational.
He further informed that 5 new ITI’s are in the process of being set up at Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Mohali and Rupnagar. The spokesperson clarified that facilities like ---free training to SC and OBC students in ITI’s and post matric scholarship scheme are being provided so as to enable them to acquire latest technological skills.
