Nawanshahr, April 28, 2016: Keeping in view the rising resentment among the parents against the exorbitant charges of fee and funds, forcing parents to buy text books, uniforms etc. by private schools, the Punjab School Education Department has swung into action. The Director School Education Department has issued directions to all the District education Officers to conduct checking of private / affiliated/ aided schools as per the directions of the Fee Committee, Punjab , in their respective districts and file a detailed report regarding the irregularities being committed by these schools by April 30 so that action be taken against the errant schools. The officials from the Directorate have also been deputed as observer at different district headquarters.
In compliance to the directions, the District Education Officer, Dinesh Kumar , today, constituted as many as 17 teams comprising three members and headed by a school lecturers and convened a meeting to issue them requisite guidelines regarding conducting inspection of the schools.
"The teams would collect the detailed data of number of students and fee/ funds collected by the schools during the past 5 academic sessions, sale of books, uniforms by the schools, compliance of directions issued to implement safety measures while plying school vehicles, uploading of requisite data of students along with seeding students Aadhar cards on the government website, ensure implementation of scholarship scheme for minorities , providing education facility to economically weaker sections in compliance to the rules and regulations under Right to Education act ( RTE)", said the DEO while issuing guidelines to the team members. The Director School Education ha deputed Sunil Bansal as observer at Nawanshahr , he added.
Keeping in view the complaint filed by the Kandi Human Rights Society, Balachaur against the exorbitant fee hike and other irregularities being committed by a Balachaur based private school, the Deputy Commissioner, Vipul Ujwal, has called a meeting of the office bearers of the Kandi Human Rights Society and the school management on May 3 to conduct inquiry and personal hearing of both the parties so that grievance be redressed.
