Kapurthala, December 13, 2012: The District Health authorities are carrying out a door-to-door survey under a special campaign for creating awareness against Cancer from December 1 – 15.
This campaign is being run following a directive from Dr. Balbir Singh, Civil Surgeon, Kapurthala. In the initial 12 days of the campaign, a total 667 Cancer patients had been identified across the Kapurthala district.
As per the available information, the identified Cancer patients are already getting themselves treated. The district has a total 8,91,179 population. Of this, the population in urban and rural areas is 2,80,338 and 5,98,941, respectively. The entire population is likely to be covered in the next days of the ongoing campaign.
Survey is being conducted by the health department’s field staff including ANMs, ASHA Workers, male workers in the rural areas and the students of nursing colleges in the urban areas of the district.
According to an official information, people are getting aware of the disease. All those Cancer patients who would be detected during the ongoing door to door campaign would be treated through CM’s Cancer Relief Fund.
