SUPVA play explores Gen Z’s emotional dilemmas and relationship struggles; ‘Half Me, Half You’ staged by third-semester
Acting students highlights the need for self-understanding and emotional maturity
Rohtak, November 5, 2026: The emotional complexities, confusion and relationship struggles of Gen Z took centre stage at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA), where third-semester Acting students staged the play ‘Half Me, Half You’ on Thursday.
Staged at the Mini Auditorium by students of the Faculty of Film and Television, the one-hour production explored how young people often allow fleeting emotions to influence their relationships, struggle to understand themselves and fail to accept reality. It highlighted the consequences of impulsive decisions and conveyed that life extends far beyond glitz and glamour.
Directed and scenographed by Assistant Professor Dushyant Kumar, the play featured Sanya, Sandeep, Anjali Dalal, Vinod, Bharti, Nikhil, Anjali Kinha and Ishan, among others, in various roles. Through its narrative, it portrayed how confusion in friendships and relationships can lead young people away from meaningful connections. The title reflected their half-formed understanding of themselves, society and relationships.
Sheetal Kumari and Chhail Bihari handled production design and costumes, while Jitendra was responsible for lighting, Manya and Jitesh for music, Karan for projection, Shamsher for unit management and Abhimanyu for production. An elaborate stage set was created to provide students with professional theatre experience.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya said SUPVA is committed to providing world-class facilities and industry-oriented training for the holistic development of students. He said the production's professional approach to sets, costumes and makeup reflected the university's efforts to prepare Acting students for careers in the film industry.
Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha, Dean Academics Dr Ajay Kaushik, FC Mahesh TP, Vinay Kumar, faculty members and students were also present.
