Team Chalant Chad wins first prize in PU wall painting competition on environmental sustainability
Team Chalant Chad has won the first prize in a wall painting competition on environmental sustainability organised by Panjab University’s Girls’ Hostels 1 and 2 and Boys’ Hostel 4 in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Green Hostel Initiative.

Chandigarh, November 5, 2026: Team Chalant Chad has won the first prize in a wall painting competition on environmental sustainability organised by Panjab University’s Girls’ Hostels 1 and 2 and Boys’ Hostel 4 in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Green Hostel Initiative.
The competition witnessed participation from 20 teams representing various university departments and institutions. Around 60 exhibition stalls displaying a variety of products were also set up as part of the event.
Team DAV secured the second prize, followed by Team Wall Painting in third place, while Team Kribhav won the fourth prize. Team Sorem Special School received a special prize in the wall painting competition.
The event was attended by Prof. Savita Gupta, Dean, Research and Development Cell, Panjab University, as the chief guest. Smt Navraj Sandhu, IAS (Retd.), was the guest of honour. Priya S Tondon, Vice-President, Competent Foundation, and Prof. Y P Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, were also present, along with hostel wardens and other university staff members.
The jury comprised artist Swarn Barnala of Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr Alka, Principal, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh; and Prof. Jagtej Kaur, Department of Art History and Visual Arts, Panjab University.
The competition provided students an opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities and communicate messages on environmental sustainability through wall paintings. The participating teams presented their creative interpretations of environmental concerns and conservation.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Anju Goyal, Warden, Girls’ Hostel 1; Dr Papiya Mukherjee, Warden, Girls’ Hostel 2; Dr Naveen, Warden, Boys’ Hostel 4; Dr Rohini Sharma, DCSA; and Dr Anupama Bahari, NSS Coordinator.
