Sukhbir asks GNDU and Punjabi University to promote 2 sports in specialised sports centers

Jalandhar June 30 : Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the vice chancellors of all state as well as private universities including big colleges to establish one skill center each to give boost to vocational training in Punjab.
Mr Badal today held a meeting with vice chancellors of state universities as well as private universities here in the evening and exhorted them to train at least 500 students per year in the skill development centers. The university and college authorizes should get them placements in the industry or companies as per their skill sets.
Mr Badal also asked vice chancellors of GNDU and Punjabi University to identify 2 sports each for establishing specialized sports centers in their respective complexes. He assured that Punjab government would provide international coaches as well as special financial assistance to setup such centers where talented sports persons could be produces who can compete at international competitions.
Among others present in the meeting included Higher education minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, Media Advisor to Deputy CM Jangveer Singh, Advisor to Deputy CM Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Principal Secretary higher Education Roshan Sunkaria and VCs of various universities.
