Start Sewerage work in Ward No. 56 Gurdev Nagar: Ahbaab Grewal

Ludhiana, November 3, 2016: Ahbaab Singh Grewal, General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party Kisan and Labour Wing and AAP MLA Candidate from Ludhiana West warned the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Office to start sewerage work immediately or face consequences.
According to Ahbaab Singh Grewal, “The residents of Gurdev Nagar, which is part of the Model Ward 56 of the much touted Smart City project are facing several hardships as sewerage and clean drinking water is not available in the area for the last 2-3 years. A written complaint to this effect was even submitted to the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation in March this year and were promised that immediate action will be taken. But despite 8 months having passed nothing has been done”
Ahbaab Singh Grewal further said that, “I along with residents of the area visited the Municipal Corporation office and was told the Municipal Commissioner and other officials were busy in some meetings. One of his assistants informed us that even the tendering process for the sewerage work has not begun and the bidding process etc. will take more than 2-3 months before any work could be started. This shows the height of casualness and apathy of the administration to the citizen’s plight.”
Ahbaab Singh Grewal on behalf of the residents of the area warned the Municipal Commissioner that if within 2 days the process is not started, the residents of the area will be camping at the Commissioner’s office and will start using the basic toilet and washroom facilities there as they cannot do so at their homes.
