Ludhiana, June 2, 2016: The Communist Party of India (CPI) in a press conference held here today charged the police of working for the interest of the influential persons and acting against the poor and middle income group people.
A 70-years old Raj Kumar narrated his woes in front of the media persons and said that the police are supporting those unscrupulous elements who are constantly troubling him. The issue has been brought to the notice an ADCP but no justice has been done till date.
Com Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Assistant Secretary of the city unit of the party along with Com Kartar Singh Bowani, District Secretary CPI and Com D P Maur, Assistan Secretary CPI District Ludhiana were present.
The CPI leader said it is a sorry state of affairs that the police was working in a totally non professional manner succumbing to the blatant political interference and the pressure of influential people.
They added that law and order in the state had deteriorated to the worst level ever because the police had become a virtual tool of the political masters. This was dangerous for the democratic setup, they said.
Com Kuldeep Singh Binder said that people were so much afraid that they did not want to go out at night because of the fear of the anti social elements. “This is particularly so in the outskirts of the city where the poor workers live. Much needs to be done to control the law and order”, he opined.
Comrades Boota Singh, Chmkaur Singh, Walaiti Khan, Vijay Kumar, Laddoo Shah, Ramchander and several others were present.
