SKILL DEVELOPMENT COURSE ON 'MUSHROOM CULTIVATION' UNDER ARYA PROJECT CONCLUDED AT KVK BATHINDA

Ludhiana, February 13, 2018: Krishi Vigan Kendra, Bathinda organized 5 days skill development course on Mushroom cultivation w.e.f from February 6 to February 12 for farm women & rural youth under the guidance of Dr.J.S.Brar, Associate Director (Training) in which 30 trainees participated.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr.Brar. He emphasized that such training programmes are the need of the hour. Learning skill and applying it to earn a living and start an enterprise is important to enhance the income of the farmers and to make agricultural more profitable. Course coordinator Dr. Amardeep Kour, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) discussed about the prospects of Mushroom cultivation and cultivation practices of Mushrooms.
Dr.Gullab, Assistant Soil Microbiologist RRS, Bathinda delivered lecture on Summer Mushrooms. Mrs. Jaswinder Brar, Associate Professor (Home science) discussed about the Post harvest handling of Mushrooms.
Dr. Vinay Singh, AP (plant protection), KVK Bathinda delivered a talk on plant protection measures for mushrooms and conducted a demo for mushroom pickle and solar drying. Exposure visit for trainees was conducted at mushroom Farm, PAU, Ludhiana. Practical demo for compost preparation was given by Dr. H.S.Sodhi, Sen. Mycologist and Dr. Shivani Sharma, Asstt. Mycologist, , PAU Ludhiana. 270 compost bags and literature were distributed among trainees under ARYA Training. This skill development training programme concluded with the motivation to the trainees to adopt this skill as an enterprise to supplement the family income as well as to provide healthy and nutritious food to the family members.
