Amritsar, September 8, 2018: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu for pleasing his friend, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, at the cost of interests of his own country.

BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh said that while Pakistan was, on one hand, offering to open Kartarpur Corridor for Sikh pilgrims, on the other hand, its Army Chief was threatening India of dire consequences.

“It is highly unfortunate that Navjot Singh Sidhu has been praising Prime Minister Imran Khan and congratulating and thanking him over a proposal which has yet not been officially received by India,” Chugh said.

Sidhu is rubbing salt on the wounds of the families of soldiers who were martyred during ceasefire violations at the border.

“It seems that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has now entrusted Navjot Sidhu with the responsibility of pleasing Muslim vote bank. Sidhu seems to have replaced Mani Shankar Aiyyar and he did his job well to please Rahul as he went a step ahead and hugged Pak Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to please Muslims on both sides of the fence,” he said.

Chugh said it was all the more clear by now that Sidhu’s hug was not a coincidence but part of a script written by none other than Rahul Gandhi himself.

The BJP leader said the Congress had earlier shown its true colours on the issue of Doklam and exhibited its love for China. He said the Congress which had questioned the Surgical Strike and tried to belittle Indian Army Chief was now exhibiting its love for Pakistan in unequivocal terms.

“It is strange to note that while Pak Army chief threatens India, Sidhu sees peace and harmony in General Qamar Javed’s eyes. Sidhu, in fact is acting as a spokesperson of Pakistan and undermining the dignity of an elected representative in a state of India. He has not only dealt a blow to the oath of secrecy he took as a minister in Punjab but was also undermining his duty as an Indian national.

Chugh said Pakistan had been assuring India of opening Kartarpur Corridor but has never cared to keep its word. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was putting in his best efforts to get the corridor opened through proper diplomatic channels, he said.
