Chandigarh, April 8, 2018: Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will launch a state-wide ‘Quit Punjab’ campaign against corruption, misgovernance and reneging of the Congress government in the state, said Punjab BJP’s newly-appointed President, Shwait Malik, here today. Malik was addressing the party workers, gathered from all across the state, after assuming the charge of the state chief.
National Vice-president of the BJP and Punjab party incharge Prabhat Jha, National vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna, National secretary Tarun Chugh, Union Minister and outgoing state party president Vijay Sampla, former state party presidents- Madan Mohan Mittal, Manoranjan Kalia, Prof. Rajinder Bhandari, Ashwani Sharma, and Kamal Sharma- and senior BJP leader & famous sufi singer Hans Raj Hans specially attended the ceremony and guided the party workers.
Lambasting the Congress in his inaugural speech, Malik said that the Congress was successful in forming the government after promising drug eradication in four weeks, job for every household, Rs 2500 unemployment allowance, smart phones, Rs 1500 pension to the elderly, but these promises remain yet to be fulfilled even after a year. Farmers, farm labourers, youth, dalits, urban & rural populace, women and the elderly, all are feeling betrayed in Capt. Amarinder Singh’s one year regime, said Malik.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah and Finance Minister Arun Jailtley for expressing confidence in him, Malik said that he will work hard and try his best to rise up to their expectations. Malik said that by handing the charge of the state president to an ordinary party member like him, the BJP has once again shown that the ground workers have an important place in the party. BJP is not like other parties where nepotism prevails, he added. Malik said that it was due to PM Modi-led Centre government’s policies that the country is today becoming Congress-free.
Addressing the gathering, Prabhat Jha said that the BJP has always honoured its ordinary members who have selflessly worked for the party. He also wished Shwait Malik best for his new innings.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Vijay Sampla congratulated Malik and promised him his full support. Sampla said that he himself had appealed to the party high command to relieve him from the post in line with the ‘one-post, one-man’ policy of the party.
