SHOCKING: Suicide of girl after gangrape in Patiala;

Sukhbir orders immediate and strictest action against guilty police officers

Chandigarh/ Patiala, December 27, 2012: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked DGP Sumedh Singh to take immediate and strictest possible action against guilty police officers who had delayed investigation and action against who were found wanting in their duty in the gangrape case of a girl of Badshahpur in Patiala district.

The Deputy Chief Minister who is also holding the Home portfolio, said that he would not tolerate any insestivity and dereliction of duty in the especially in the cases of crime against women. He asked IG Patiala zone Parmjit Singh Gill to conduct a thorough inquiry to fix the responsibility of the guilty officers and submit a report within one week.

On the basis of the preliminary enquiry Badal asked DGP to suspend DSP Patran Harpreet Singh, dismiss SHO Gagga Gurcharan Singh and transfer ASI Nasib Singh to police lines with immediate effect.

Meanwhile all the three accused in the concerned case have already been arrested by Punjab police.
