Seminar on Mathematics in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, March 30, 2015: A one day seminar on Mathematics was organised in the Lyallpur Khalsa College today as a part of National Mathematics Day Celebrations. The seminar organised by the College Mathematics Department with sponsorship from National Council for Science and Technology had as its chief guest Dr Loveleen Grover Head Department of Mathematics Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. Speaking to the participants, the chief guest said that Mathematics had a lot of career potential in the modern age of communication and information technology, adding that there was a need to encourage advanced research in Mathematics so as to take full benefit of the discipline. 

Welcoming the present principal Dr GS Samra said that the College had established S. Balbir Singh Centre for Science to encourage research in pure sciences. He also said that college had planned to organise more of research oriented activities in coming session. 

The convener of the event Prof Santokh Singh head College Maths Department informed the present that National Day celebrations involved participation of students from 50 colleges of Punjab in items such as quiz, power point presentation and poster making competitions. The stage was well conducted by Prof Shubha Chauhan.
