Ludhiana, April 19, 2015: Rajesh Bagha, chairman, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes today warned ineligible people against getting fake Scheduled Caste certificates issued by some authorities and said that such people were robbing the benefits of eligible poor Scheduled Castes candidates. He said that he has already taken up this matter with the Chief Secretary Punjab and has demanded that an FIR under section 420 of IPC should be registered against such persons.
Rajesh Bagha was in the city to attend a function organised by an NGO, Anti Corruption Association of India (Regd) at village Lohara, near here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Bagha asked the government to strictly move according to the rule book and judgments of Supreme Court on this issue and demanded that the authorities issuing SC certificates to ineligible candidates should be held accountable and it should be made clear to the authorities that if it was found that they have deliberately ignored the guidelines to issue certificates to ineligible candidates, it should be recorded in their service record.
Bagha informed that as per law the scheduled castes belonging to only Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist religion are eligible for SC Certificates. He said that he has already directed the Punjab government to launch a campaign to detect fake SC certificates on war footing and cancel them with due process of law. He said that directions should be issued to all Deputy Commissioners to organise special camps for detecting fake certificates.
He further hailed the Union Government for its landmark initiative by launching MUDRA bank. He said that he has already written an appreciation letter sent to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. He said that this corpus fund would encourage the small entrepreneurs hailing from downtrodden segment of society to setup their own medium and small scale industrial units. Bagha said that this financial assistance in the form of corpus fund to the marginalised sections would enable them to be self-reliant and self-sustainable. He said the union government has taken this rightful decision to uplift micro-finance institutions by instituting a corpus fund of Rs. 20,000 crore and credit guarantee corpus of Rs. 3,000 crore through statuary enactment.
Rajesh Bagha was also honoured on the occasion. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Ravi Bedi, national president, Anti Corruption Association of India, B R Jogi, district president, Manjit Bali, member, National Council, BJP SC Morcha, Manjit Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Raj Kumar, Ravinder Jassi, besides several others.
