CENTRE OWNERS FLEE AFTER LOCKING DRUG DE-ADDICTION CENTRE

Ludhiana, August 30, 2018: Tightening its noose against unauthorised drug de-addiction centres, the District Administration today raided the premises of Disha Drug De-Addiction Centre located on Duley Road in Alamgir village, near here. 45 youth undergoing treatment there were freed and later shifted to the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana for proper treatment.

As per information provided by the Health Department, a team led by SDM (East) Mr Damanjeet Singh Mann had conducted a raid on the premises of Disha Drug De-Addiction Centre, Alamgir. The owners of this drug de-addiction centre did not cooperate with the inspecting team and even fled after locking the gates when they came to know about the raid.

When the locks were broken, the inspecting team found 45 youth inside, who were undergoing treatment at this unauthorised drug de-addiction centre. The 45 youth have been shifted to Civil Hospital Ludhiana for proper treatment.

Earlier in the day, Dr JP Singh, SMO, Civil Hospital, Sahnewal, had carried inspection of this centre, and the owners had not cooperated with him as well.

Tehsildar Mr Kanwar Narinder Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr Beant Kaur, SHO Dehlon, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
