Ludhiana, November 15, 2015: Quarterly Meeting of Northern Chapter of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Society of Northern India was held today in Dumra Auditorium at DMCH, Ludhiana on the theme ’Update on Ethics & Continuum of Care in Obstetrics & Gynaecology’. The meet was inaugurated by Vice President of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Amrit Nagpal. Those present on the occasion were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Supdt Dr Sandeep Sharma ,Dr. Anju Huria from 32 Sector Chandigarh and Dr Ashima Taneja (Professor & Head of Pediatrics)
Organizing Chairman-Dr Ashima Taneja extended warm welcome to all the guest speakers and participating delegates. In her address, Dr Ashima said that the purpose of organizing such meet is to lay emphasis on improving health care for women everywhere, by setting standards for clinical practice, providing doctors with training and lifelong learning, and advocating for women’s health
Organizing Secretaries Dr Suman Puri (Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology) and Dr Pooja Tandon (Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology) informed that experts will be elaborating on latest developments in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Under the Pragmatic guidance of Joint Organising Secretaries Dr Suni Juneja and Dr. Shaweta Gupta P.G students performed a skit depicting importance of HIV Vaccine.  Dr Asmita Bhambri said that as infertility is a very common problem these days in young couples so they have organized a  Quiz on Infertility, students from various collages participated in  this quiz. Dr Kanu Priya Jain Treasurer informed that debate on the management options in Prolapse was very informative.
More than 150 delegates attended the conference. Eminent speakers from various medical colleges of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, participated in this conference. Leading Gynecologist of Ludhiana also attended the same.
The topics covered during the CME include ‘Controversies in the use of Progesterone in First Trimester by Dr Vanita Suri from PGI Chandigarh and Dr Alka Sehgal from GMC Chandigarh spoke on ‘Induction of High Risk Pregnancy’. A pregnancy is considered high-risk when there are potential complications that could affect the mother, the baby, or both. High-risk pregnancies require management by a specialist to help ensure the best outcome for the mother and baby. A panel discussion on ‘Ethical Dilemas’ In Obstetrics & Gynaecology  was the most appreciated topic amongst the audience. There were some informative lectures regarding recent advances in Gynaecology which were taken by the eminent speakers from all over the Punjab.
