Punjab State won 27 Gold, 34 Silver and 32 Bronze medals in 35th National Games

Chandigarh, February 16, 2015: The Punjab contingent performed exceedingly well and improved its Overall Position in the National Games from 9th to 5th position by bagging 27 Gold, 34 Silver and 32 Bronze medals (total 93) in the games.
Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab and Sukhbir Singh Badal, Dy. Chief Minister, Punjab congratulated the sportspersons who brought glory for the State.
The 35th National Games were held in Kerala from 31st January to 14 February, 2015. A strong contingent of 600 participants in 30 sports disciplines participated in the event. The Govt. of Punjab contributed Rs. 56.00 lacs to the Punjab Olympic Association to prepare teams for the National Games and ensure its participation.
In the individual events, the State of Punjab won 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze in the event of Archery, 03 Gold, 03 Silver and 04 Bronze in Athletics, 01 Silver and 01 Bronze in Boxing, 04 Gold, 02 Silver and 01 Bronze in Cycling, 03 Gold, 04 Silver in Fencing, 02 Gold, 3 Silver and 02 Bronze in Gymnastic, 05 Gold, 04 Silver and 02 Bronze in Judo, 02 Gold, 02 Silver in Rowing, 07 Gold, 06 Silver and 02 Bronze in Shooting, 01 Bronze medal in Swimming, 01 Silver and 02 Bronze in Taekwondo, 02  Gold, 02 Silver and 06 Bronze medal in wrestling and 01 Silver medal in Yachting.
In the team events Punjab were the Champions in Women Hockey, Runners-up in Handball Women and Football Boys.
