Bathinda, December 11, 2013: Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister, Punjab today announced that in coming years Punjab would lead the nation in all spheres including business, sports, power, administrative reforms and infrastructure.
Addressing the massive gathering before having introduction with players of Indian and England Kabaddi teams here in multipurpose sports stadium, Badal said that Punjab has taken lead in Power sector and it has become power surplus state besides having best road and air connectivity, infrastructure, industrial prosperity and one of the favoured investment destination in the country and the destination of leading in all sectors is not far.
Announcing that Punjab Government would leave no stone unturned for inclusion of mother sport Kabaddi to Olympic games, Badal said that there was massive response to Punjab government from different foreign countries for participation in World Cup Kabaddi. He said that Punjab government would send more coaches to foreign countries for formation of strong kabaddi teams to make the 5th World Cup Kabaddi more interesting and tough competitions. He said that Punjab Government has setup world class sports infrastructure worth Rs. 200 crore. He said that as Kabaddi has reached to World Sports Map, now Soccer, Athletics, Basketball and Hockey would get further boost in the state. He said 12 teams were locking their horns in this world cup kabaddi and in next edition the number of teams would be increased.
Envisioning Punjab a total drug free state, the Deputy CM also warned the drug traffickers and said that Punjab Government would develop a healthy sports culture in the state. He said that Punjab has launched a sustainable campaign against drugs and seized record drugs besides putting drug paddlers behind bars.
