New Delhi/Jalandhar, August 9, 2013: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that Haryana player Virender, who has won gold medal in the international event will be honoured by Haryana Government, as per the Sports Policy of the State.

This was stated by Hooda today on the occasion, when wrestling gold medal winner of Deaf and Dumb Olympics-2013,Virender from Haryana called on him in New Delhi today.

Hooda congratulated Virender on winning the gold medal and asked him to continue working hard and bringing name to his family, State and the country.

In the Deaf and Dumb Olympics-2013, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, 31 players have taken part in the tournament from India and Virender won gold medal by defeating the wrestler of Turkey in the category of 74 kilogram.

Virender, who is from Chhachhrauli village of Jhajjar district of Haryana has earlier also won a number of medals in the Deaf and Dumb Olympics-2009 held in Taipeh, China, he won silver medal in 84 kilogram category, whereas in 2005 Olympics in Melbourne, he got gold medal in the World  Deaf and Dumb Championship-2008,he won bronze medal.

On this occasion, Director General of Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Haryana Sudhir Rajpal, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation Chakravarti Sharma, Media Advisor to Haryana Chief Minister Shiv Bhattia, Ramphal Maan coach of Virender, Olympics players Pradeep Kumar and Ajay Kumar,  Ajit Singh father of  Virender, special assistant  Ram Mohan, Village Sarpanch Surender, Chairman of Panchyat Samiti Devender Jakhar and others were present.
