Punjab Launches Crackdown On Vehicles Using Multi-Toned Horns

Chandigarh, April 17, 2015: The Punjab Transport Department today issued directions to all District Administration to crackdown and penalise those vehicles using multi-toned horns and impound such vehicles besides cancelling driving licenses of offenders

Disclosing this here today, Ajit Singh Kohar, Transport Minister said that  the Central Motor Vehicles Act and the Rules framed there under by the Central government have laid down that “no motor vehicle, including agricultural tractor, shall be fitted with any multi-toned horn giving a succession of different notes or with any other sound producing device an unduly harsh, shrill, loud or alarming noise”.  He added that only police vehicles, fire brigades and ambulances were permitted under law to use multi-toned horns etc and that also in the course of their duties.
