PUNJAB GOVERNOR INSPECTS CHHATBIR ZOO

Chandigarh Octoober 10: Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri VP Singh Badnore, today inspected the working of Chhatbir Zoo. Enquiring about the administrative setup of the zoo and the staff employed in the zoo for its various works. Shri Badnore, reviewed the practices being followed for the care and management of these animals in the zoo apart from the kind of feeds given to the various zoo animals.
The Governor also visited other major attraction of Zoo like Lion Safari, Deer Safari, Reptile House and Nocturnal House etc.
The Governor was also briefed by Mr. Dhirendra Singh, Chief Wild Life Warden about ongoing projects in the Zoo which was funded by Asian Development Bank.
The Governor also witnessed the newly acquired arrival under animal exchange programme with Surat Zoo, which included Otter, White Peacock, Chow Singha and Indian Star tortoise.
Visiting all the important enclosures of the zoo like Tiger, Elephant, Lion, Hyena, Leopard, Bears, Aviary, Deer Safari, Gharial etc, the Governor showed keen interest in Asiatic lion, white peacock, Hyena, Tiger and others.
Giving some valuable suggestions to further improve the environment and living conditions of the animals, the Governor enquired about the annual budget requirement and annual expenditure of the zoo. He also enquired about any new project related to Zoo development being proposed.
He also enquired about the status of animal inventory of the zoo apart from the recently executed animal exchange programs of Chhatbir zoo.
