Punjab Government gives big relief to the Unaided Colleges: JAC
Ludhiana, January 18, 2019: A delegation of Joint Action Committee (JAC) representing over 1600 Unaided Colleges of Punjab today met Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh and Social Welfare Minister of Punjab, S.Sadhu Singh Dharamsot under the leadership of Sh.Ashwani Sekhri, Chairman, JAC and thanked the Punjab Government for giving relief to the Unaided Colleges and students. Dr.Anshu Kataria, Spokesman, JAC and President, PUCA while giving information said that Punjab Government has given a big relief to over 3 lac SC Students studying in around 1600 Unaided Colleges of Punjab. Government has now decided to disburse the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) amount for the period for which the student has studied in any Institute. Earlier to this, if any student leaves his/her study in between then the Government used to take back the entire released amount for that student from the College for the period which he/she has already studied. After this decision, now Government would be able to disburse around 300-400 Crore which was pending for few last Years, Kataria added. Sh. Ashwani Sekhri said that only this but the Government has also decided in a meeting held on 9th January under the chairmanship of Chief Minister that those students who were deprived of scholarship because of non submission of Acknowledgement, Adhaar Card etc will now be given scholarship. The decision has given relief to the students and the Colleges who were struggling and running pillar to post in last years.
