PUNJAB Finance Department goes fully online from July 1

Ferozepur, July 18, 2013: The computerisation of entire treasury offices in Punjab ensuring all Government Payments online proved a grand success with  Punjab becoming first successful state in the country to disburse more than Rs.7,281 crore to more than 14 lakh beneficiaries in first quarter by online system. 

Disclosing this here today, a Spokesperson of Finance Department said that crediting online payments was successfully running in the whole state. He said that through this recently implemented system of online payments to various departments, authorities besides salaries of government officials/employees, Ferozepur and Fazilka districts have credited Rs.214 crore 48 lacs and 83701 in a short span of three months.

He said that Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) has been monitoring the system of online payments from its inception on 1st April, 2013 and Punjab has become the country's first state to start this programme. He said that all government payments from 1st April, 2013 were being deposited directly in the bank accounts of concerned departments and authorities. He said that in Ferozepur and Fazilka districts 85,298 people were directly benefitted with this scheme.

He said that in Ferozepur Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 115 Crore 89 lac 24974 and number of beneficiaries are 43,854. In Abohar Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 32 Crore 28 lac 46551 and number of beneficiaries are 12,273.

In Fazilka Rs. 38 crore 88 lac 60426 amount is disbursed to 15,259 beneficiaries. Similarly in Guruharsahai Treasury total amount disbursed is Rs. 7 Crore 2 lac 88865 and number of beneficiaries are 3818. In Jallalabad total amount disbursed is Rs. 10 Crore 66 lac 45429 and number of beneficiaries are 5,029 and in Zira Rs. 9 crore 73 lac 17456 credited to 5,065 beneficiaries.

He further said that E-Payment system was implemented in all Government Offices/ Departments whose transactions were done through treasury offices. He added that from July 1, 2013 Punjab has set a new milestone by starting the whole work online, which would prove to be a major step to ensure paperless administration in releasing funds to various departments in the entire state. He said that no physical files would be required to be submitted now.
