PUNJAB: Departments Told To Hold Departmental Promotion Committee On Schedule

Chandigarh, October 1, 2015: The Punjab Personnel department has taken a serious view of various departments not holding the meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to decide the promotions cases of the officials and officers whenever they become due for promotion.
            In a communiqué to all the heads of the departments, the Personnel department has conveyed that it has been noticed that the DPC meetings were delayed in different departments on the one pretext or the other. It said that delay in timely promotion to official/officers, creates many administrative and legal problems for the Government. He also said that due to this reason many officials/officers can not enjoy the fruits of promotions.
            The communiqué further said that to mitigate the problems of officials and officers besides to tackle the administrative and legal problems arising out of irregular holding of DPC meetings, all departments have been asked to immediately submit data in a tabular form. All the departments have been told to give information regarding pending DPC meetings, reasons for pendency of DPC meetings and the Date on which the last DPC meeting was held. All the departments have been asked to submit the data by October 15 without fail.
