Chandigarh, April 19, 2018: The Department of Legal affairs, BJP (Punjab) under the stewardship of Sh.Lekh Raj Sharma, Advocate, H.O.D and its team members organized a function to felicitate Sh.Shwait Malik, (MP Rajya Sabha) on his elevation President BJP, Punjab at Law Bhawan Sector 37-A, Chandigarh, in the presence of Sh.Dinesh Kumar, General Secretary (Org.), Sh.Satya Pal Jain, Addl.Solicitor General of India, Sh.Baldev Raj Mahajan, Sr.Advocate, Advocate General, Haryana and Sh.Divesh Moudgil Mayor, Chandigarh.

The felicitation function was attended by Sr.Advocate and Members of High Court Bar Association and more than 17 representatives of various District Bar Associations, wherein, Sh.Shwait Malik was honoured and Sh.Lekh Raj Sharma, made following demands from him for the welfare of legal fraternity which included Provision of funds to be allotted to Bar Council & Bar Association in General Budget of Central Government, Provisions to make 50% reservation for the wards of Advocates in Prime law institutes, 50% reservation of ladies for appointment of Notary Public, Rs. 25,000/- per month to young advocates as stipend in initial three to five years who are financially weak, Vacancies of Hon’ble High Court Judges to be filled up as early as possible, No post retirement office to the retired judges, To provide funds for free construction of chambers, Loan to advocates on easy installments for office, House purposes, FIR should not be registered against advocate without consent of Chief Justice of High Court, No toll to be charged from advocates as they are on public duty always, Retirement age of judges should be made 65 years and Adequate representation of lady advocates in appointments of High Court Judges.

Sh. Shwait Malik assured the gathering that the demands raised by Sh. Lekh Raj Sharma being justified and for the welfare of the legal fraternity shall be fulfilled at the earliest. Mr. R.S. Randhawa former Secretary HCBA, has also raised the demand of lawyers.
